The game is free. On the website it counts visits and plays so we can see whether anyone is enjoying it, and it does that without knowing who you are.
What is counted
- That the game was opened, and whether this browser has been here before.
- When you start a game: the mode (campaign, scenario or sandbox), the nation and the difficulty. When a game ends: won, lost or quit, and how many in-game days it lasted.
- Roughly how long you play: the minutes the tab was open and showing a game.
- When you click or finish a download of the desktop app, and for which system.
- The country you are in (worked out by Cloudflare from your connection), your kind of device (computer, phone or tablet), your browser and operating system by name only, and the website you arrived from (just its address, like
news.example.com, never the page). - A random code your browser made up, kept in its local storage as
bc.aid. It is how a returning visit is told from a new one. It is not your name, it is not linked to anything about you, and clearing your site data deletes it.
What is not counted
- No IP address and no browser identification text is stored. No name, email address or account exists.
- No cookies, no advertising, no tracking across other websites, and nothing is shared with anyone else.
- Your saved games and settings stay in your browser. They are never sent anywhere.
- Crawlers and automatic checkers are ignored.
Switching it off
- Turn on Do Not Track (or Global Privacy Control) in your browser. The game then sends nothing, and the server would ignore it if it did.
- The desktop app for Mac and Windows never sends any statistics.
Who sees the website traffic
The site is delivered by Cloudflare. As with any website, the network that delivers pages sees IP addresses to do its job, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy. We do not receive or keep them.
